DR. PETER SYBER
A technological breakthrough by bioengineer Dr. Peter Syber sees the creation of the artificial replicating neuron (ARN), capable of autonomous loom formation. Itself forming a hive intelligence, but also modulated through a central node, or brain, the ARN loom is capable of synapsing with its biological counterpart creating an enhanced neural loom (ENL). The further evolution of this research leads to the BAAL concept, conceived as, biologically assisted artificial life.
THE BAAL TOWER
Dr. Syber’s commercial success in bioengineering related technologies leads to the formation of the BAAL Corporation, and the construction of the BAAL Tower, a 112-story, tetrahedral-blocked tower, incorporated with an ARN network, forming the AI entity, Marlene.
ART BÉBÉ
Out of BAAL comes Art Bébé, the first of her kind, the ENL augmented human.
MIKO
As companion and guardian to Art Bébé, Dr. Syber creates mutable machine unit 01 (MMU-01), or MIKO, able to take the form of a motorcycle, or that of a soldier in anthropomorphic form.
